Between Dijon and Nuits-Saint-Georges, the vineyard of this Grand Cru is planted in the commune of Gevrey. Etymologically, “charmes” comes from the word “chaume” meaning abandoned plot. The name “Chambertin” dates back to the Middle Ages and simply indicates that the field belonged to a certain Bertin.
